Steve
Garrett brings a very diverse background to Emerald Coast Interview
Consulting, giving each customer a unique and effective perspective on
the interview process. He began his flying while in college at the
University of Florida in 1984, and then began a career as a pilot with
the Air Force in 1988. During his 12 years in the Air Force, he
completed tours in the C-141 in Charleston, South Carolina; in the C-20
Gulfstream as a member of the 89th AW VIP Squadron at Andrews Air Force
Base in Washington DC; and in the C-17, again at Charleston, AFB. Steve
has extensive experience as a safety officer and is a certified Crew
Resource Management Instructor/Facilitator. After leaving the Air Force, Steve became an Instructor Pilot for Flight Safety International/Gulfstream International in Savannah, Georgia. He is also an FAA-designated Examiner in the Gulfstream GV. He is currently employed as a pilot with a major airline. Steve also brings extensive business savvy and innovation from outside the field of aviation. Steve started a bottled water company in 1998 which quickly grew into a water bottling plant and distribution center for not only their products, but for several other Southeastern bottled water distributors. An avid sports enthusiast, he started a sports product company licensing, making, marketing and selling the first authentic collectible college football helmets on the market. This in turn led to the hugely successful ProMotion company, a promotional logo products company that secured contracts with such clients as UPS, The United States Postal Service, and the New York Downtown Athletic Club, presenters of The Heisman Trophy. ProMotions launched the first line of Heisman Trophy logo products and was the exclusive licensed supplier and marketer for several years, which led to some fascinating business and promotion deals with some of the most famous names in sports. The growth of both companies required that Steve develop a keen eye for talent as he recruited and hired new staff to help expand the business, and as a result Steve has been on the interviewer side of table frequently since the late 1990s. Steve is currently involved in real estate investment and development of various kinds, and is licensed in North Carolina to originate mortgage loans. Steve’s experience across the gamut of both military and civil aviation, coupled with extensive business and networking skills make him an ideal coach and mentor for those clients getting ready for the interview of a lifetime Steve has been married for 10 years to the former Alison Glass of Wilmington, North Carolina. They have three sons, Rhett – 2, Will – 6, and Trey - 17. The Garrett’s reside in Charlotte, North Carolina on Lake Norman. Steve is a 1987 graduate of the University of Florida with majors in Political Science and Business. He also holds an additional degree from The University of Southern California’s Flight Safety School in Accident Investigation, and is a Deputized Federal Law Officer. |
